Software “data collection and results analysis for sport competition “GTO challenge” – by TVES”

In the wake of Decree of the president of Russia and in compliance with the decree №540 of the Russian Federation Government  dated 11^th June 2014 "Ratification of Statement for National sport complex  “Ready for work and defence” (GTO)", JSC “TVES” took initiative and came up with a new product – software “Data collection and results analysis for sport competition GTO – by TVES”.

National sport challenge “GTO” has been introduced across the country and will soon become mandatory for completion. GTO trials will be open to all participants who register on the official website. Usually participants of the event are unacquainted, because the date and place of the competition are chosen by one of regional centres. That is why big events like that lack the spirit of a friendly competition and sport enthusiasm. Besides, the scale of event, the number of participants and the amount of data to be analyzed require a lot of effort and hard work from the event organizers.

1) Automatic registration of applications for participation

2) Participants’ information can be copied from the existing database or added for the first time.

3) Estimation of the physical challenge types based on gender and age groups.

4) Automatic issue of start lists for each challenge based on gender and age group.

5) Any start list is searchable in the document collection by its barcode. Barcode scanning device excludes any chance of human error and speed up the search process.

6) There are two options to process information: paper- and e-documents (via tablet). In the first case the start list is printed and then filled in by an event judge by hand. The second option – an event judge fills in the results of a challenge in the tablet app and sends this data to the server via wireless network.

7) Results analysis. Automatic estimation of physical challenge completion, level of success. The software can identify the best participant in any gender/age group. Rating system (each completion result is evaluated by 1000-points scale) compares results and chooses the best participant from any group. The final protocol, formed by our software, is fully compatible with an automated control system of National sport complex “Ready for work and defence”.  Based on the accumulated results from the sport challenge our software distributes gold, silver or bronze for the participants, who scored enough points in physical tests.

The principle of operation of our software is very simple. Each participant fills in an application form for participation in the GTO challenge competition. These documents are registered in the database and the software forms GTO competition groups based on age/gender principle, i.e. the program is building start lists for each GTO challenge. Barcode scanner is used for a fast and comfortable search of a specific start protocol. Once the protocols are ready, the results are added to the program and it chooses the winners, the best participant in a specific age/gender group, success level in completion of GTO physical tests. The program can also range single participants inside age/gender groups, or a whole team (class, school, company department) in general.

We received an enormous positive feedback both from the event organizing management and the competition participants.
